Weird SEOMoz Pop-up Errors

by Jeremy on August 5, 2010

I am having the oddest browser problems today. Every time I try to open ANY page, a “pop-up” window appears:

A username and password are being requested by http://lsapi.seomoz.com. The site says: “SEOmoz

I have disabled the SEOMoz plug-in and all others, checked my browser extensions – but NOTHING seems to work. And YES, I cleared my cookies, deleted my cache, and reset the browser twice.

So odd – anyone else experiencing this too? The phenomena just appeared today, so I hope it’s a bug that will simply go away.

*Update: I found this link on Firefox Support – over 15 other people have it too…so it seems it’s not a isolated incident.

Hey Jeremy,

So sorry to hear you are having problems with your firefox. Based on the error you pasted in, it looks like you must have some sort of plugin that is using our API and isn’t authenticating correctly.

You can contact us at customerservice@seomoz.org so we can help troubleshoot what might be going on :)

Best,
Kate

Hope that helps!
Kate

Hey Jeremy,

After reading and replying to your post – I did some more investigation and it turns out that certain plugins were making malformed requests to the API and we recently changed the response code returned from the API when this happened.
We just rolled out a fix for this so the problem should be resolved!

Thanks for point it out and sorry for the bad user experience!

No problem – glad it was figured out, I noticed that it only happened when using OpenDNS (on a particular network) as well (not sure if that helps)

it is problem due to API call from Firefox addons. One such addon that is causing such problem is WASP addon. try to disable addons or run Firefox in safe mode.

Just disabled the SEOmoz-toolbar addon, and now it works fine! But any fix yet to run the toolbar without having this issue?

Thanks!

Very interesting topic and i am also suffering from the problem as well. I think addons generates some automated queries and it reduces the performances of Firefox. Am i right? Can anybody solve my quest?
