Myth #1 - Ethanol is Great.
IMHO:
1) Ethanol is something that they can ’sell’ without worrying about the oil companies going out of business. They won’t fight it.
2) Sugar ethanol works great, but we aren’t Brazil and we aren’t making sugar ethanol (much more efficient to make than Corn based ethanol).
3) Corn destroys land. It is a horrible crop. Say goodbye to our good cropland (remember the dustbowls of the great depression? That too was from overfarming…).
4) Corn prices will inevitably go up, all other grain prices go up, dairy/milk prices skyrocket, meat prices increase to EU levels, and everything we eat costs triple or quadruple todays prices.
5) think about it - Brazil’s almost powered entirely by ethanol. It just isn’t made from corn. There is no US corn lobby there
