Balloon Boy Vomits On Today Show – Watch more Funny Videos
Richard and Mayumi Heene concocted the hoax – that their 6-year-old son, Falcon was in a helium balloon that broke away from its mooring and was drifting over Northern Colorado — hoping to market themselves for a reality television show, Alderden said.

But, let’s not forget the amazing Lawn Chair Larry – Larry Walters who soared to over 16,000 Feet powered only bya lawn chair and 45 helium-filled weather balloons attached to it!

I guess Richard Heene was taking inspiration from Larry Walters and lived vicariously through his son Falcon ;)

Peter Schiff Thursday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. There is a ton of material in here besides the Senate discussion. Schiff articulates clearly that the financial crisis has passed but the economic one is still squarely upon us….

Robert S. McNamera’s Fog of War | Ford “Whiz Kid” Dies at Age 93

7 07 2009

I’ve posted the full movie “Fog of War” the Documentary based on his bestselling book – it is an amazing insight into the mind of a True American Genius…albeit sometimes misguided, McNamera truly was one of America’s foremost thinkers in our era. He was able to accomplish the seemingly impossible, with provocative statistics, psychology and perseverance. I highly recommend reading the book and watching the documentary, if your a History buff it’s not to miss too!

McNamara wasn’t a failure. It is more complicated than that. In many ways his management of the Pentagon was everything you might hope for from a company president. The instincts he used to save Ford — with his championing of the cheap, functional, stripped down and wonderfully lucrative Ford Falcon — he brought to the Defence Department. He streamlined its management, asserted civilian control, reformed procurement practice and reshaped nuclear doctrine. He was able in later years to show off the calendar that JFK gave to his close advisers. The President had the crucial days of the Cuban Missile Crisis picked out in silver as a thanks for McNamara’s cool advice.

Why I believe in “Cash and Carry” vs. “Borrow and Buy”

22 05 2009

cash-vs-credit-jhorg
Most people who know me have probably heard me chastise the credit card industry at one point or another – but if you haven’t known me this may be new to your vantage point.

History: For the last 6+ years I haven’t used a credit card, sure I have direct debit/ATM cards, a Money Market linked card etc. – but honestly not one CC charge. Why you may ask? Because I don’t want to give the credit card companies a single dime in interest or fees. You see, I too was a College Kid, who amassed some debt (not a TON) and I was paying exorbitantly large amounts to pay just my minimums once I graduated. Determined to be debt free, I worked very hard and paid them off in 3+ years. After which I vowed to never again be in their clutches again – this is where I still am today.

Being credit card free is easy, and once you figure out how to manage a budget properly, it becomes even more common sense – don’t buy it unless you have the money. Remember saving for things as a Kid? Well, my Wife and I do the same now, and it works splendidly – especially if you want a particular “large ticket” item, this gives you time to think long and hard about the purchase and how to pay for it. None of this “buy it now, and figure out how to pay for it later” B.S. in my home….it’s simply not logical.

Al Gore Testimony on Climate Change | House Foreign Relations Committee

5 04 2009

Al Gore’s 15 part Testimony on Climate Change and Crisis from 1/28/09. This is not very long and his position is very well articulated. I recommend all residents of Earth view this – that means you!

What is Global Warming? | From ClimateCrisis.net

Carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the planet naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. This is a good thing because it keeps our planet habitable. However, by burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and clearing forests we have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere and temperatures are rising.

The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is real, it’s already happening and that it is the result of our activities and not a natural occurrence.1 The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable.

We’re already seeing changes. Glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitat, and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing.

Mr. Gore addressed the Senate House Foreign Relations Committee on January 28, 2009 – way to go Al!
