Parkour Definition:
Parkour (sometimes also abbreviated to PK) or l’art du déplacement [1] (English: the art of moving) is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible, as if moving in an emergency situation.

Skills such as jumping and climbing, or the more specific parkour moves are employed. The object of parkour is to get from one place to another using only the human body and the objects in the environment. The obstacles can be anything in one’s environment, but parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of the many suitable public structures available such as buildings and rails.

Parkour practitioners are often called traceurs if male, or traceuses if female.

Failure Definition:
Failure refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success. Product failure ranges from failure to sell the product to fracture of the product, in the worst cases leading to personal injury, the province of forensic engineering.

Failure can be differentially perceived from the viewpoints of the evaluators. A person who is only interested in the final outcome of an activity would consider it to be an Outcome Failure if the core issue has not been resolved or a core need is not met. A failure can also be a process failure whereby although the activity is completed successfully, a person may still feel dissatisfied if the underlying process is perceived to be below expected standard or benchmark.

1. Failure to anticipate
2. Failure to perceive
3. Failure to carry out a task

Loser is a derogatory term for a person who is (according to the standards of the observer) generally unsuccessful.

I’m a ISTJ – MBTI

27 03 2009

So I took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test today, and we performed a test called “Metaphor” with the Team…it was a BLAST. We also learned a lot about our different personality types. I found out I was a ISTJ or Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judgment personality type – kewl huh? Check out the definitions and explanation below from Wikipedia (thanks!).

ISTJ (Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judgment) is an abbreviation used in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) publications to refer to one of the sixteen personality types. The MBTI assessment was developed from the work of prominent psychiatrist Carl G. Jung in his book Psychological Types, which proposed a psychological typology based on his theories of cognitive functions.

From Jung’s work, others developed psychological typologies. Well-known personality tests are the MBTI assessment, developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and Katharine Cook Briggs, and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, developed by David Keirsey. Keirsey referred to ISTJs as Inspectors, one of the four types belonging to the temperament he called the Guardians.

Some Traits of the analysis were:

* Dominant: Introverted Sensing (Si). ISTJs thrive on deep analysis of their surroundings.
* Auxiliary: Extraverted Thinking (Te). ISTJs use this function to actively process and evaluate their perceptions.
* Tertiary: Introverted Feeling (Fi). This function allows ISTJs to turn their analysis to themselves and others, to understand their feelings and the causes thereof.
* Inferior: Extraverted Intuition (Ne). While ISTJs are capable of rapid and dogged information processing and number crunching, they often have difficulty with, or simply dismiss, abstract concepts without immediate concrete applications.

Some famous ISTJ’s in History:
* US Presidents
– George Washington
– Andrew Johnson
– Benjamin Harrison
– Herbert Hoover
– Harry Truman
– George H. W. Bush
* Jackie Joyner-Kersee
* Evander Holyfield

Now that I know more about our Team and their personalities, I am excited to be able to understand them better. I recommend anyone take the MBTI and learn more about themselves and those they work/interact with on a daily basis.
